ANY idea why traffic was stopped DEAD for over an hour at 9PM on a Wednesday night? People were actually going the wrong way down the shoulder in an attempt to "turn around"

I was sure one of those morons was going to meet an emergency vehicle head on.

It took close to three hours to go from Olney back to Grasonville

Yup - here ya go:

Man falls from moving vehicle in Crownsville

By a Sun reporter 6:36 AM EDT, August 7, 2008 An unidentified man was seriously injured last night when he apparently fell from a van traveling on Interstate 97 in Crownsville and was airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, authorities said. Police were seeking the van.

State police at the Glen Burnie Barracks said a white van was southbound on I-97 near Crownsville Road about two miles from U.S. Route 50 at about 8 p.m. when, according to witnesses, the man fell from the vehicle.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Division Chief Michael Cox said the man suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown by Trooper 2 from Norwood in Montgomery County to Shock Trauma. His condition was not available.

Anyone with information about the van and its driver is urged to call the state police at 410-761-5130.
