Yes, bonus cards at grocery stores should be one's last priority when evaluating pros and cons of a new area to relocate to....

As for Food Lion, it is quite possibly the worst chain of grocery stores that exist in this area. That is all we have in the town we live in here on the Eastern Shore and so we drive the 15miles to Easton to do our shopping at Giant. Yes, they are a bit more expensive but at least they have clean stores and carry the items that "we" are looking for.
We use Food Lion more as a convenient store to pick up bread, milk, things like that... we do not purchase any meats or anything from the Deli.

I moved here from PA 5 years ago. Salisbury schools are not good, Fruitlands are. Cambridge is awful. Good luck finding a job or one that has a livable wage. People are not at all friendly in a general public way, but my neighbors are great, social and friendly. Housing is a joke, Salisbury has a 75% rental rate, that means only 25% of the homes here are family owned. This is a college town. Home prices are high, if you want a little fixer upper for $200,000. If you are looking for culture forget it, they have no idea what culture is. no concerts, no plays, their idea of a festival is grilling chicken in the mall parking lot. Home is what you make of it, just do not expect your glowing perception to last. Crime is a problem but they bury it, you will never see 1/2 of what is going on in this community in the news or news paper. Politics is a joke, this is a minimum wage retail town. City council and the mayor do nothing to bring viable businesses to this area. My perception of PA just got a little brighter, now I wonder why I left.

Haven't been in a while. Why did they close the one on N. Salisbury Blvd??? Like I said, I use FL locally, the one on Tilghman Rd, it IS clean as far as grocery stores go the one on Nanticoke is a dump. I "try" and get to Dover AFB commissary once a month because it's probably 25% or more cheaper overall. I also use Sams for the frozen entries and I buy the lean ground beef by the tube, much cheaper that way. Less than 2 bucks a lb. for 93% lean.

Don't know why they closed a store, don't work for them...the name has to do with the football Giants.

That entire rant hits the nail on the head. Ppl visiting here dont see what life is like on the shore because you only spend a weekend here. The "good-ol boy" clanish statement is also true. I work for a large car dealer on the shore and Ive seen numerous ppl hired based solely on the fact that they are a friend of a current employee. No experience, no education, but they are a friend of a friend. NYMD67 made this statement in another post awhile back about the area. In my experience it is true as well.

Not sure how some of the places stay in business with their bizarre hours during the week. Hallmark stores closing at 3pm in the afternoon, contractors calling you back months later because they were at the beach,etc... it is something to get use to, so beware if you are a person who likes to be scheduled. Schedules don't exist here.
My wife grew up around here. After living outside St Louis MO(where Im from) for 4 yrs we moved back to the shore. After 2 yrs here she was noticing how "podunky"(reference the AT&T commercial) life is here. She wouldnt have known that had she never lived anywhere else. Hence when listening to others opinion of the area make sure they werent born/raised here. Its a way of life, different strokes.

Default Name some towns

Everyone one Thanks for giving me your honest thoughts on Salisbury. I will be looking at other areas to live. If some of you can name some towns that would be great. I see some people have said some already and I will be doing a search on those towns.

One of my faults is is when we are down in MD we spend most of our time looking around Salisbury and checked other towns but not as much as Salisbury that I really don't know where to go.

Not to sound racist or anything and I don't want anyone to take it this the wrong way but I'm white and my wife is filipino so we would like to be in a white neighborhood. If I work I think I am gonna end up in the Salsibury, Snow Hill, Wicomico County area so I really don't want a huge commute to work. Maybe I'm to use to living 10 mins from work now but to give you an idea I can deal with a 20 - 30 min commute.

Again all Thanks for your help. I'm really in the beginning stages of making all this happen but all your thoughts are giving me ideas and I'm learning more.
