Seriously, just a drive out to western Md. is relaxing on it's own. Or you could go up 270, take the Alt. 40 scenic route and head up thru Middletown, Boonboro, and points beyond. If you get on 68 instead, head towards Cumberland, maybe ride the W.Md. Scenic Railroad steam engine
The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad | Allegany County, Western Maryland or just noodle around. If you go as far as Deep Creek, you can hike Swallow Falls (pretty easy walking) and drive along Savage River. None of this would cost a lot of money except if you get lodging which still isn't that bad out there.
I dunno if they'd have vacancy at this late date or not, but if you would ever decide to go to Deep Creek, I highly recommend Carmel Cove Inn, they're on the web also.

Seriously, just a drive out to western Md. is relaxing on it's own. Or you could go up 270, take the Alt. 40 scenic route and head up thru Middletown, Boonboro, and points beyond. If you get on 68 instead, head towards Cumberland, maybe ride the W.Md. Scenic Railroad steam engine
