We will be relocating to Columbia and want a family friendly neighborhood. We will be renting for about 2 years and then hope to buy. We have a 2 year old and plan to try for number 2 soon. We would like a single family home or town home in an area that has some other stay at home parents. Any recommendations?

I have lived with my husband for a year now in the Kings Dominion Apartment complex in Columbia, and I have always felt safe (it's in the Kings Contrivance Village). We have a dog (the apartment complex is pet friendly), and I walk him around the neighborhood all the time. The area is surrounded by single family homes and townhomes, is right near the park and community pool, is quiet, and there are always people out jogging or walking their pets. For Columbia, I thought their prices were ok (probably around $900-$1000 a mo for a 1 bedroom, $1250 for a 2 bedroom). From here you can also walk to the shopping center. I've really enjoyed my experience here and the neighbors, which have all been friendly. Their website is www.edenbrookapt.com.

I know there are several townhome complexes in this immediate area that are nice and family friendly. One of my neighbors just moved into one on the other side of Eden Brook Drive. Check this area out.
