I'm fairly new to the area and am wondering what is the best way to visit DC from the Ft Meade area. Driving is definitely not the way to go. Found that out today.

During the weekdays, you can take the MARC Train from Odenton. www.mtamaryland.com has information on schedules and station information.

You could also drive to the Greenbelt Metro stop (end of the green line) or the New Carrollton metro stop (end of the orange line) and take the DC metro into town.

Will be attending the 2017 inauguration and staying at Mt Mead. Would like to know where can catch the metro to go to Washington DC for this event and the schedule times of departure. Would also like the price.

Union Station on the Red Line or Capitol South on the Orange an Blue Line are the closest paces to the Inauguation Swearing-In ceremony are the closest stops on the Metro. I recommend staying in Silver Spring for the Red Line or Arlington for the Orange and Blue Lines.

Start here for services: https://www.wmata.com/service/rail/

I recommend allowing at least an hour to get anywhere near the inauguration. Trains run every 12 minutes at mid-day. The cost is a few bucks, maybe $5.
