I've observed that PA drivers generally "sit" in the left lane on MD hwys. You'd think that they would continue to observe their left lane rules out of habit in adjacent states.

I look forward to the day when there are strict laws regarding aggressive driving. Not a day passes that I don't encounter this everyday.

I once had a work van tailgate me for about a mile on the Beltway in the right lane. I was already doing 60 in the right lane and he had plenty of space to pass me on the left so I have no idea why he was riding my bumper. When he finally decided to pass me I caught the number on his vehicle and called it. I told the owner of the company that I was going to call the police on his worker who tailgated me unnecessarily. When I told him my location he knew which driver was in the area. About 2 miles later he had slowed down. I believe the owner had contacted him and warned him so I felt better.

My pet peeve though is people who pass on the right in the merge lane. That is soo unexpected and they do it when there is room on the left to pass. Why???

Am I the only one who cares about the speed limit? It seems that no one cares about whether the posted limit is 35mph or 55mph, they drive at whatever speed they choose. What a society that we live in where the drives that obey the law are bad and the ones that don't are good. From tailgaters, to speeders, to weavers, they all make me sick. The worst thing is driving in residential areas that post 30mph and you have people driving 60mph. If it was your neighborhood, would you want people driving through there like a bat out of hell with your children on the street, your pets, hell you? Sad, sad, sad!

As I was on 83 South near Hunt Valley recently, this guy, I kid you not was driving a convertible and doing overhead presses with a resistance band on each hand. I guess he was holding the steering wheel with his knees. Talk about a workout on the go .

What I meant by Maryland's limit is 65 is that for most highways, the maximum speed allowed in Maryland is 65.

The 495 and 270 are not main interstates so they have an exception. Plus, like you said, too many exits. Thus it has set the 55mph limit. However, before the oil crisis, the entire Beltway highway was set at 70 MPH.

It's happening everywhere. Speeding is a huge problem these days, people always are in a hurry! I only wonder what kinda time constrains they have got...
