Hi !

Just yesterday I have filed for my last unemployment benefits check and in two weeks my first 26 weeks benefits will expire, and I am still without a job.

Maryland Unemployment Benefit website has some information on how to extend benefits, but its rather confusing.
Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Update - Division of Unemployment Insurance (http://www.dllr.state.md.us/employment/euc.shtml - broken link)

My understanding, is that after my 26 weeks are up, I should receive a letter from Department of Labor. Or this letter is mailed only to "qualified" applicants ?
And I am well aware, this board is not "Department of Labor" help desk, but maybe someone is was or currently experiencing similar situation.

Thanks !

My husband got his letter after we realized that he only got one week of benefits in the checking account. We called the Towson number (sorry I don't have it) but we heard that the Towson office was more efficient than the others and it was true. We called and they told us that a letter was due to come to us in a day or two (after the fact, right!) Anyway, the lady was very helpful and efficient and gave us an extension right over the phone. I hope this helps!
