My fiance and I are looking to relocate to Maryland in the near future. We are both in school getting our MSW degrees so we are going to be looking for "real" jobs soon lol. I really like Maryland and I love being near the ocean and the proximity to big cities like DC and NYC. I am kind of afraid of Baltimore after reading lots of the posts here we are probably going to drive down there in the spring and check it out in person before we make a decision. What place is better for younger people Annapolis or Baltimore. We won't be making much money so affordability is a factor we aren't big into a party bar scene, but we don't want to be the only 25 year old childless (for now) couple on the block.

Annapolis. We live here and we are old folks and love it. A bit on the expensive side but well worth it.

I was raised in and around Annapolis and now live in Baltimore. Balt is definately cheaper, but there is a reason, crime, poor city services and neighborhoods in decay. The main pastime in Baltimore for the younger crowd is binge drinking. There is a bar on practically every corner and drunk people fill the sidewalks every weekend. Annapolis has much more variety of things to do. You can still get a drink if you want to but don't have to put up with obnoxious people everywhere. Annapolis is much safer and if you decide to have kids you won't have to move because the schools are great.
