Teenagers received only probation after giving a 15 year old 3x the legal limit of alcohol, gang raping her, and leaving her along the side of the road. Judge blamed the victim for getting drunk. Apparently, getting drunk warrants female rape in Maryland according to this Justice.

Quote:
"
“I don’t think the attack was racially motivated, but there were racial and class undertones in the courtroom. On one side you had the three rapists, an aunt and two single mothers, all African-Americans. On the other side, everyone was white and middle class.
............
Kathleen Dumais, a Maryland state delegate, and Nancy King, a Maryland state senator, have taken up the case. Dumais is drafting legislation that would ban juvenile sex offenders from attending normal public schools and place their names on a register. If passed, it may be called Erin’s law."

That will not help anything. What is banning them from school going to accomplish? It will make them uneducated and on the fast track to career criminal. The sex offender registry, another joke.

The focus should be on putting the guilty in jail. Not making up MORE laws that do not prevent crime.

No matter a persons age, alcohol impares ones judgement and connection with reality. A minor consuming alcohol does not warrant anyone taking advantage of them or classify them as being at fault. That's ridiculous. That's like saying a 60 year old man trying to lure a 5 year old in with candy is innocent because the child took the candy... I don't think so. Your childhood is the foundation for whom you will become- a juvenile raping a juvenile is wrong regardless. The juveniles that are guilty can get an education in a facility while paying for their crimes just as any other. Help is what the kid needs!

Well, I read the posts and was gonna put my .02 in, but an old liberal hippie Democrat like myself has some pretty specific ideas on what should be done with rapists, pedophiles and sex offenders, and it doesn't matter one rat's hiney to me whether the offender is 16 or 160. Just so I won't get banned, I will keep my mouth shut on this one. Besides, I can not possibly rant until I have another pot of coffee.
