We are thinking of buying our first house which is located in the Wheaton Woods neighborhood. I'm slightly concerned about safety and the quality of the schools, especially the elementary school. Any advice?

Both my sons went to Wheaton Woods ES and I saw it go down hill year after year. I couldn't wait until they graduated. I could not afford to move until after they were out. We're gone now and it's a big relief. Look at the school profile (google mcps school profile), pay attention to the teacher-student ratio, test scores, free lunch ratio, etc. There were alot of young violent gangs, and even though there were alot of kids in the neighborhood, I did not feel safe letting them roam around freely. There were fights at the bus stops, corners and the parks are infested with drug activity after dark. This was my experience. Do some research then decide. Good luck.
