Any suggestions for a good place to meet a friend for drinks and dinner? Not too stuffy or fancy. TIA.

Man, there is a great Mexican place on Main Street we meet friends at a lot, but the name escapes me. Try googling Mexican and Main Street Ellicott City. Food is great.

Do you mean historic Ellicott City? Or anywhere in Ellicott City?

We had a nice dinner at the Rumor Mill when we were on our househunting trip here.

Other than that, since I'm new in town, I get all my recommendations from HowChow's blog (just google that name, don't think we can link to blogs). I've seen Ellicott Mills Brewing and the Diamondback Tavern both mentioned there.

I think the Mexican place mentioned is probably La Palapa, but I haven't eaten there.

La Palapa is a great Mexican Restaurant. I've only eaten there twice but I enjoyed myself both times.

T-bonz at the intersection of Rts 103 & 104 has a nice beer selection and a pretty good food. Not upscale at all. There's also Kelsey's Irish pub near Normandy shopping center. You can sit near the bar or in a separate quieter dining room. I'm also a big fan of La Palapa. It has a large outdoor eating area.
