I work in natick and my fiance recently got a job in New Bedford. We both plan to drive. What would be a good town to live in and commute to Natick and New Bedford. Time taken for the morning commute is important. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

maybe Bridgewater for her comnute but you will still have along one as she will. Also in the winter
the snow makes the commute harder. Also what hours will you both have that could make traffic
brutal. Fairhaven, Norwell also are near New Bedford. I just thought of Braintree or Quincy also which might help with Natick-then going towards new bedford traffic might be going the oppisite way. Mansfield is also a nice town not sure about the distance, best to do some test runs and then decide.

I'd look at places a little closer to Natick than New Bedford. The reason is simply because of the traffic. You're going to have more snarled traffic closer to Natick than in New Bedford. She will be "reverse commuting" (against the flow of Boston-bound traffic) which means she's less likely to get caught in heavy traffic. Because of this, it would make sense NOT to put your finger on the geographic midpoint between the two cities. Somewhere around the end of Route 24 would make sense (i.e. Canton, Stoughton, Dedham, Easton, or even Sharon). Bridgewater works as a midpoint, but it's a little further down as would be Mansfield.

Norwell is nice, but not exactly close to either town. Fairhaven will put your fiance right next to work (5-10 minutes), but you're looking at a miserable commute. Again, somewhere near the 24/128 interchange or even the 95/93 interchange (Canton) will probably suit you both best.

I was thinking more along the lines of the Foxboro area because the towns on the northern end of 24 require a commute to Natick on 128 North, which is a disaster, and Foxboro is closer to New Bedford than Dedham or Canton (maybe 45 mins vs an hour).

I don't know how Route 27 is at rush hours, but it's possible to do a backroads commute to Natick from Foxboro, Sharon, Walpole.

Thanks for the suggestions. Foxboro seems to be a good place with nice apartments. I have pretty much decided on Foxboro and I found a few good apartments there.
