I saw a very beautiful house in Whitman, but not so sure about the area. We currently live in Braintree, small house with no driveways. We now have 2 kids and looking to move to to South Shore towns, family/kid friendly, diverse since our kids are multi racial, and good school system.
Found a house in Whitman that has everything we are looking for, but not so sure about the school, area, population.
Would love to hear from anyone who has some inputs on this town.
Thanks.

Whitman is an okay town. They just built a new high school and athletic fields a few years back. It's a regional high school shared by Whitman and Hanson. Schools aren't bad but not as good as Braintree. There is little in the way of retail and the town has very rural areas along with an old fashioned downtown area with a Main Street USA feel with some of the older homes. I'm not sure how many stores are there at this point. The location makes it inconvenient to get to and from major high ways as you need to travel back roads to get to either route 3 or 24. In regard to population, it seems to be a mix of those who wanted a nice home in an affordable town and people who have lived there for years and don't want to leave. I don't think your chlidren's multi-racial parentage will be an issue at all but you will be hard pressed to find any truly diverse communities on the South Shore.
