I am considering moving to Massachusetts from NH. I have been working in Chelmsford for about 10 years now and a shortened commute would be a relief.
My primary reason for the move is to give my son a shot at starting over in school. He has had drug problems since starting high school (currently a junior). He is currently in a drug program in MA and I think he is ready to get his act together and try to straighten out his last two years of high school.
My intent was to get an apartment in MA and get him into school immediately. We own a home in NH and will be trying to get it ready to sell over the next few months. My wife is currently interviewing for a job in MA as well.
Is it as simple as getting an apartment and applying to school?
Is it possible to stay till he graduates? It is really hard for a kid to change schools that late in his career. I would assume the drug issue would follow him if he is still struggling with it. His friends are definitely hard to give up at home and definitely a problem, but moving might be worse.
I think moving is a great idea to get him a fresh start. Yes, you just have to establish residency by renting an apartment or buying a house and then you can register him for public school.
