Berlin is lovely. We have family who lived there & we really liked it. Nice small town feel but good access to highways & shopping. Pretty rolling hills, apple orchards, scenic views. Other options in the area though with well rated schools would be Westboro, Southboro & Shrewsbury to name a few. All have lots of community events, sports activities, plus newcomers groups to get to know people.

Default Try Westford-Littleton-Shrewsbury-Auburn-Sturbridge

Berlin's nice, but check out Westford-Littleton --which are about 20-25 min out of Downtown Worcester right on 495, and also near route 3 and route 2.

Could also try Auburn-Sturbridge area, or Shrewsbury

Hi...we moved out of berlin and headed south. We lived in Northbough before moving to Berlin. I would not live in Berlin if you have children. The school is very sad, the community does not offer anything for families, no family friendly neighborhoods. It is not the place to be if you are looking for any sort of community. You will have better luck and better schools if you go to Northborough, Southborough, Westborough, Shrewsbury...they are all surrounding towns by Berlin. Plus your house will never hold its value in Berlin because of the schools and the lack of community/town. Good luck!

Holden is also nice. I don't have children, so I can't comment on the schools. Holden has a grocery store, restaurants, pharmacies, and is right next to Worcester.

We moved to Holden this past Fall. I have to say it was just dumb luck that we ended up here. I love the school (Dawson elementary) and the high school is supposed to be great (Wachusett).
The only complaint I have is the rush hour main street traffic. But since I don't really drive in it, it doesn't affect me.
There is plenty of stuff in town and Worcester/Shrewsbury Rte 9 is a hop skip and jump away. I also do a lot of shopping in Leominster because it is a nice ride and I have a friend there. I make a day trip out of it (stay at home mom thing).
We are originally from North Jersey and most recently spent the last 6 yrs in North East TN and 5 yrs before that in Dover DE. We have been north and south....Holden is a nice mix of all that we liked about the other places.

Let me add...we did Soccer so far and plan to do Little league this spring. The schools do a basketball thing on Friday evenings during the winter (pick up games). There is an organized basketball but we missed it being new and all. We also go skiing with the school up at Wachusett Mtn. only about 20 minutes up the road. It really is a super family friendly town.
