What are the needs in Mass. for language teachers, in particular? i know it's a shortage area in MD and PA, but what about Mass? I'm looking to move to New England area from Maryland and teach Spanish. Should I assume jobs will come available soon? or is it bleak? Where should I look in terms of affordable housing and low traffic areas. I've been to Boston and no thanks. I'd have a heart attack at 34 dealing with that traffic everyday.

Thanks for any advice!

I'm not familiar with the market for language teachers, but I will ask two questions about other points in your post, to clarify what you're looking for in a place to live: 1) What kind of housing budget fits your idea of "affordable" housing? 2) When you say you want to avoid Boston, does this mean you'd prefer to avoid the entire Boston metro area and stick to western and central MA and Cape Cod, or is it that you want to avoid the city of Boston but would be okay with a suburb of Boston? The answers to these questions should help people on the board here narrow the possibilities of which places would be a good fit for you.

I am not sure about the availability of jobs, but i do know that in the school system my son is in they start teaching spanish in the first grade. So i would assume that if all school systems do this it would mean more need for teachers. pero ésa es apenas mi opinión.
