Going up to Mass. for a short weekend trip in May and want to see Battleship Cove. Can anyone recommend hotel/motel or area to look into to spend the night. Looking for something nice that overlooks the water if possible....doesn't have to be at battleship cove, but maybe no farther than a 30-45 minute drive.

Also, how long does it take to drive from Boston airport to Fall River area? Is it about an hour without traffic - 2 hours with traffic?

Thanks

Try to get a flight into Green airport in Providence, instead. It's closer.

If you are coming from Boston to F.River, it should be about an hour is all. You want to head for Rt. 24 (Fall River / New Bedford), a heavily traveled road, so watch your signs and stay to the right lanes all the way. Are you coming all that way "just" for Battleship Cove? IMHO not worth the drive, you can do the whole tour in less than an hr.

As for places to stay, look for a nice hotel in the Westport MA area which is near the water, or closer to Portsmouth RI (over the bridge), or even in Bristol RI. It's not at the ocean, it's sort of in the bay. Take a few hours and drive through Newport RI if you can. All within an hour of Battleship Cove.

Too bad you have a short weekend, there is a lot to do in that area in May.

Hope this helps, have fun!
