Hi, I'm a young (29) single female professional and will be moving to Massachussets. I found a great job in Milford, MA but the only thing is that it is further from Boston than I would like it to be (about 1 hour). I want to be closer to the Boston area as I heard that it is a great place for meeting other young single professionals. Any suggestions on where I should live? I would like to live somewhere safe and where the commute/traffic to work won't be too bad.

What is the traffic like in the mornings going westbound? If I live in Boston, will it be difficult to get out of the city? Would it be better to live farther out west?

Thanks!

Either direction on 495 will have traffic in the morning. However if you don't mind paying tolls on 90, you will be going against traffic and fine. From my experience, Waltham would be nice, but you are then talking a 40 minute drive to work. Anything outside the 95/128 belt is not as vibrant for night life if you are in to city type night life.

As far as going against traffic in general from Downtown Boston, these are your choices:

93 North all the way to NH, 93 South, Mass Pike West. 95 and 495 seem to be about the same in both directions until they hit Stoneham up north or when 93/95 Braintree.

Leaving the city heading west is the way to go, I used to live in West Roxbury and work In Springfield (100mi) and never hit traffic once. either direction. But I wouldn't bother living in Boston if your going to work in Milford. If you wanted the downtown, bars etc while being in the city just go to Worcester. it's like Boston #2. Bostons downtown or other "city" area are more overrun with college idiots anyways.
