Our family is considering a move to Massachusetts. I have children who will be in high school and are way into musical theatre. I have looked at some websites of schools but none are very good about describing their musical theatre programs and I was wondering if any one has some recommendations. My work would be in Boxborough, and we are considering living in about a 20 mile radius of there.

You don't have to look far from work .... Acton Boxborough Regional High School has an excellent theatre program. They do one major musical per year.

Lexington has great music and drama programs. One of their drama teachers, Steve Bogart, has been there forever and is really, really enthusiastic. Several LHS grads have gone on to careers in music and/or performance including Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls and Eugene Mirman, who does stand up comedy. I believe they do one major musical a year, but there are lots of other opportunities for performances throughout the year, including lots of student run drama nights.

Here's a great resource as well. One of my friend's daughters has been involved in their programs for years & really thrived there: SAMM Entertainment

Just realized my earlier post made it sound like ALL ABRHS does is one musical per year ... on the contrary, they also do two other mainstage plays, enter the theatre competition every year, and an evening of student-directed (and acted) plays.

Lots of strong theatre programs in this area ... you'll be spoiled for choice.
