Yes there is.

MBTA.com > Official Website for Greater Boston's Public Transportation System

The commuter rail goes to North Station, where you can transition to the Green/Orange Line.

I think the commute from Lexington to Manchester is going to be one hour on a good day. Add in the inevitable accident on I-95 or winter snowstorm and there will be days when that is going to be the commute from hell. At least your hubby will be going against the traffic.

Lexington's downtown isn't what it used to be. A lot of storefronts are boarded up. Evidently small businesses have a tough time making it in Lexington, considering how pricey it is. On the plus side the schools are very good.

Yes, as wxjay said, there's a commuter rail option for Andover. There is a station right in Andover (I believe off Exit 41 or so from I-495) and there is a station in Lawrence (I think off Exit 45 or so from I-495). Depending on which part of Andover (or North Andover or Methuen) you live in, one of these stations might be closer than the other.

By the way, I-93 and I-495 cross these 3 towns (Andover, North Andover, and Methuen) in different sections and these 2 freeways are very close to each other in this area (near the MA-NH state line) and are directly connected by Route-213 which goes through the Loop in Methuen.
