Cost of Utilities (Springfield, Westfield, West Springfield: apartments, rental, landlord)

Hey everybody,

My husband and I are moving to Western Massachusetts and are wondering what the cost of utilities are year round. Namely, electricity, gas, water and anything else a landlord may charge us for. Some of the apartments we have checked out have utilities included in the rent, some don't, and we'd like to be prepared. We're mostly looking to rent in towns such as Westfield, West Springfield, South Hadley, Longmeadow, Granby, maybe even Suffield in CT.

This depends on many factors: size of rental unit, insulation, type of heating/cooling systems, efficiency of those systems, personal preferences, etc. I can tell you what we pay for three people (1600 sqft, two zones with programmable thermostats, forced air by gas, furnace 5 years old, kept at 68ish during winter):

water/sewer: 50/month
natural gas: averages about 115/month
electric: averages 80/month (includes a/c in summer)
