From Acton, you can also take red line from Porter to Park St. and walk across the park. I think Acton is a great town, but there are also many great towns on the list with better commutes. I don't think I would knowingly choose that commute if I was new to the area.

For a newer home with well rated schools & a commute to South Station, Hopkinton or Westboro would be a good bet. I grew up in Westboro & lived in Hopkinton. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. :-)

Sharon has fantastic schools and great programming. You might not find a newer house with your budget, but you should be able to find something in your price range. Taxes are very high though, and the commute might be a little longer. Have you considered Canton? Their high school is an 8 on great schools, and they have a commuter line and good access to the red line. Probably, there is also good inventory for your price range.

Sharon is great (we love it here), but it really has VERY LITTLE other than the excellent schools to recommend it. If I had the OP's budget and neurotypical children, there are several other towns listed that I would consider over Sharon...

I would second the vote for Canton. Great schools. My son's therapist has been involved with local school systems for over 25 years, and he pulled his son out of Sharon and put him in Canton schools because he thought they were better.

Hello,
I'd like to know your experience with Westborough.....we are moving from MI. My children are going to the 1st and 7th grades. They've been used to diversity, but I don't care about that. I care about the academics..period.
