There's always Kelly's Roast Beef on the North Shore but I'm hoping to find such on the Cape. Quilterchick, I agree. I'd have to scrape off the cheese too.

Reason: please
I grew up a lobsterman and lived on the RI, MA and NH coasts. The best lobster roll is the one you make. Its not as festive, but lobster rolls are so over-rated and over-priced in my opinion.
You're right, they dont need any tricks. A ten year old could make one. And you can get a lobster at a market for $5.00 a pound. Instead of buying an average roll for around $15.00. Go buy 3 one pound bugs and a bag of your favorite rolls, make and season them your way and have a party.

I think you're right. And I'm giving up on my quest. We had lobster rolls in Yarmouth (not naming the restaurant) where the lobster was so greased up with mayo it was disgusting and lettuce! A big giant leaf of lettuce. Personally I think the best lobster rolls are north. Weathervane in Kittery makes a good roll.
As a native of MA who is NOT a big fan of lobster, I still understand how lobster, and the variations of eating it, are very personal and can become the subject of vicious battles :-) !!!!!! My mother cringes at the thought of "ruining a perfectly good lobster" with mayo, bread, or any substance other than butter.
As you can imagine, I am somewhat of a social pariah in my own family.
I agree, capecodcathy. It's like pizza... deep dish, thin crust, extra cheese, light on the cheese, etc., etc.
