Its great the many bodies of water in our state preserved for recreation. If you look at a map, you'll see there is plenty of them though not many are designed to enjoy their use. The ones I liked that provide opportunities for jogging, dog walking, bicycling along with a beautiful landscape:

Chestnut Hill Reservoir
Jamaica Pond
Lake Quannapowwitt (Wakefield)
Fresh Pond

Ive checked out others like Spot Pond along the Fells Reservation area. Nothing too special aside from the fact that they have kayaking/canoing opportunities. Also, Walden Pond you can swim in it.

Are there any others in the state worthy of mention?

I like Spy Pond in East Arlington, if you're looking at water spots closer in towards Boston. Good walking/jog/dog path and there is a boat launch, although I'm not sure what size boats can go (4 hp?).
You can even take the Mass. Ave. bus from Harvard Sq. and walk the one block to Spy Pond.

Long Lake in Littleton has a tiny beach and no way to walk around it, but very good swimming and minimal boat (4hp for fishing?). Littleton also has al arger lake, Lake Manawanakee (sp?) which is very nice- just west of I-495 in Littleton (25 miles nw of Harvard Sq.)
