Yes, it was all over the news. Others may disagree, but, I would hate to see so much focus put upon the 8 or 9 year old. I bet that kid is traumatized as it is.

What is most troubling to me is what Irfox, who had been a life guard (fill in, I recall) for the Lafayette pool, has incidated: the numbers for the chemical tests of the pool were known to be fudged/made up.

Given that the pool was evidently very cloudy from the decomposition of the body, yet continued to pass the clarity tests, etc., the numbers fudging continued at least to that time the woman lay dead in the water.

Whether they continue with wading pools or charge admission fees or what have you, it does not take away the problem of some people not taking their jobs seriously and fudging things like the quality of the water.

I agree with you. However this poor work attitude is common in every industry, in both the public and private sectors. It's not a rare occurrence, and not limited to the DCR. And it also doesn't help that patrons and customers treat the help (like the lifeguards) like crap, or just plain ignore them.

I can see something like this happening in a place like Mexico, but here in the US?

Ridiculous.

Then again here's something on the other side. Flushing 8 million gallons of water due to one person.
Urine-tainted water drained from Mt Tabor | kgw.com Portland

But seriously pools have to be clean to operate them. Even as a kid I tested chlorine before going in.
