I am looking for lodging/rental near Scituate for four-five nights Sept 2-5 for a family with two little ones, three adults. We are trying to combine a wedding with a little family vacation - but I'm not having much luck finding places to stay.

We'd like beach, outdoor pool (at minimum), and in very close proximity to Scituate to make it convienent to leave and return to the wedding festivities due to little ones being cared for nearby.

Nantasket Beach resort was mentioned - looks like that is a bit away from Scituate - and some comments on here make it sound a bit questionable area.

Any suggestions or leads would be appreciated.

There are really very very limited lodging options in and arround Scituate.

The Inn at Scituate Harbor does have an indoor pool and is 'convenient' to the retail areas in town as well as the lighthouse and Pegotty Beach, but it is pricey and while not terrible, not very nice either, especially for the price.

I have heard terrible things about Cohasset Harbor Inn as well, nad that doesn't really have any of the features you're looking for eithr since Sandy Beach requires a sticker and there is no pool at that hotel either. The Clarion in Nantasket beach is decent; I believe they have a pool and are of course, accross the street from Nantasket Beach.

That area of Nantasket has a lot of summer themed bars that can attract some Bikers, and that type but it generally looks worse than it is. If you don't bring your kids to a bar (which you of course wouldnt') you wont' have any probelms. By day it is very nice. By night, it's fine but there is that non-family night life presense that wouldnt' be ideal.

There is also a nice chain hotel down in Plymouth, but that is rpetty far (I cant' remember what chain it is). The other option would be the Holiday Inn on the Rockland/Hingham Line. It's honestly probably the nicest of the hotels mentioned as far as the rooms and cleanliness go. I'm not sure if they have a pool, and it would not be convenient to the beach but it is cost effective and one of the only options you'd have aside from a B&B.

I would recommend trying to find a bed and breakfast in scituate; there are a handful of smaller options like this, but maybe call and see if they actually make sense with the kids. I know there is one off 1rst or 2nd cliff that would be walkable to the harbor and the beach, but the name escapes me at the moment.

These are really your only options.

I completely agree with Chaxey. My husband and I got married in Cohasset and explored all the nearby options for out-of-town guests.

We ended up renting a house for the week for most guests--that actually worked out well. The family got the house to themselves, we rented a house on the ocean, but you could rent something with a pool...the only downside is the expense.

We also had a couple of people stay at the Clarion at Nantasket Beach, which people seemed to like. I understand it's at least 15 minutes to Scituate, but it's a really pretty drive through Cohasset from Nantasket to Scituate.

Chaxey also mentioned a B&B on Second Cliff in Scituate--I think it's called Cliffside.

Thought I'd follow up for anyone else looking for something in this area in the future. We stayed at the Nantasket Beach Resort in Hull and it was perfect (but expensive). Great beach, pool, restaurant, and easy walk to other things.
