Maynard is good if you don't have children in school. Its a small town with a small town feel. Compared to the towns around it it's a bit less expensive. They revitalized the downtown a while back. I lived there for 12 years, but moved because the schools weren't that great.

Maynard is a bit of an urban island in an area that is largely semi-rural. Maynard is more densely populated, with smaller lot sizes, than the surrounding towns, which are characterized by apple orchards, woods, and fields. Despite the population density and the revitalized downtown, Maynard is still a small town, with an easygoing, friendly feel. The town has long had a mix in its population of blue collar and broadly middle class. A population of young professionals moving out of the city to raise families has been added to this mix in recent years.

Default Worth a Second Look

Maynard is a friendlly, close-knit community that embraces diversity. Mix of blue-collar and working professionals. Easy to get around. New State of the Art High School to be built-scheduled completion of 2013. Maynard just hired a new Superintendent of Schools (7/11). New highly trained and enthusiastic Principals at both the Fowler Middle School and the Green Meadow Elementary. Strong parent/teacher groups. Highly qualified, veteran teachers in place. Steady improvements in MCAS scores. Many large families in town with great recreational sports teams. My own children are challenged and well adjusted.
