My husband and I are looking to take a short trip to the Berkshires this coming weekend. We'll be traveling with a toddler and an infant. I know it's kind of last-minute, but I was hoping we could get some recommendations on a town to stay in. We don't need much as far as entertainment is concerned, but we'd like to have access to a farm market or somewhere that we can go apple/pumpkin picking. We'd also like to stay in a bed and breakfast, providing we can find one that will take us with our two young children. Thanks in advance!

I hope you have found a place already. Last time I tried, I found it was difficult to get a weekend reservation in the high season at a decent place. The best town to stay in is wherever you can get a reservation.

Anyway, here's a B&B reference:

Thanks for the reply. We actually haven't found a place yet. A lot of places that will take children are booked, so we're still looking!

If you don't find a place in the Berkshires, and you still want to go to the country, you might enjoy the Greenfield and Deerfield area. There are farm markets, souvenier shops and nice scenery. There are chain motels along the interstate. I'd suggest Look Park in Northampton as a good place to take the toddler on a train ride and to feed ducks.

It is hard to find a B&B to bring kids to in New England...we tried to do that when our son was little using a generous gift certificate we were given for our wedding for a B&B network and none of them would let us bring kids. I get it, but it's frustrating. So, I'm not being helpful, just sympathizing! Good luck, it really is beautiful out there but I've only spent time out there in the summer so I'm not sure about orchards and such.
