I had propane for my Stove and Dryer in an apt I used to rent, It wasn't bad. But I don't know about heating a house with it. I filled the take about 3-4 times a year at about $75/fill up. First choice would be gas, slightly cheaper than oil and you can't run out of it. New Oil systems can be very efficient but the prices can (and do) spike to much. Not that the gas co's don't take advantage of that but it's still the better deal.

Im lucky... And partially unlucky. The house I bought is heated with oil and uses oil for hot water, but it came witha pellet stove which I run all night.
