I am a condo renter in Massachusetts. The Association has sent out a letter stating because our landlord has not paid condo fees, we must send our rent to the Association until it has been paid. We did this last year as well so we know how that goes. If we don't pay it we could be sued along with the landlord. I spoke to the landlord who says she had been meaning to contact me to let me know the condo is being sold at the end of the month. We can stay here as long as we need. She is expecting it to take about 3 months. We don't need to pay anyone any money and we can live rent free for as long as we need. I don't know what to believe because the landlord has not always been honest. I do know that you can't live any where for free. Do we still have to pay her condo fees when she is getting rid of the condo? What do we do? How do we handle this situation? At this point I don't know who has OUR best interest at heart.

Do you have a lease or rental agreement? What does it state?

Is the condo going into foreclosesure?

I'm not a lawyer so some legal advice may be necessary.

But if you are renting then my opinion is that all that is needed is to pay the rent. If you foersee an issue then put rent aside if necessary. You are still responsible for the rent.

I agree with unit731. I'd start with the Mass Tenant Rights Association.

The only one with your best interest at heart is YOU! Get a lawyer and find out what is really going on. It might save you a lot of grief and money.
