Hi, I am so very unsure of the choice I should make. I need help in figuring this out. I have a job offer in The Greater Boston Area outside of Boston city itself I am currently living in vero beach FL, small town, small feel very quiet, almost very boring. I need to know the areas in and around Framingham that would be safe to live for a young married couple with no children.I am concerned about safety and apt rental fees as my price range is $1000-$1200 for 2br. I speak no spanish, know a few words(un poco) will that be any form of hinderence? Can some one please enlighten me on your thoughts. What is the salary like for the average Joe in MA?

Since your job is in Fram, you should be able to live in towns far away enough from BOS which are a little less expensive. 1200 for a 2 bed is definitely possible but won't be new or pretty. I doubt you'll get anything decent at 1000 for a 2 bed. Towns like Westborough, Ashland, are really safe but probably no less boring than where you came from. Fram has some nice and run down parts. North Fram is generally ok. South and east Fram and Downtown areas not too pretty. Natick is east of Fram - nice town but still close enough to Bos where 1200 is not enough for a decent 2 bed (really small one maybe). Aside from rent, you need to consider if heat is included as that can run an extra 200++ in winter.

I don't know why you'd need Spanish to get by here, unless your job caters to the Latino pop. True that Fram has a relatively large Brazilian and other S. Amer pop, but it's not like the town is run by mom and pop operations with no English speaking people around.

Portuguese is the second-largest linguistic group in Mass., not Spanish, and Framingham is a central point where a lot of Brazilians immigrate and then spread out. But I can't imagine any job that would really need a second language unless it's something like a case worker for that community, etc. (Hmm. The two guys who delivered a refrigerator to me today spoke Portuguese...)
A friend of mine from eastern Mass. spends her winters in Vero Beach. There is no comparison about "boring." You will certainly not be bored anywhere in eastern Mass. as you might be in Vero. Best wishes on your move.
