I think as well one the Fall River line opens there should be a Fall River-Worcester line Via Providence.

Look, I know it's farfetched ...but what if a wealthy unmarried woman in her thirties kills her father and step mother with an axe?

I do see enough traffic to justify that , but a Light Rail - Train from New Bedford to Fall River to Providence via Warren and East Providence is doable enough traffic and some leftover Rail ROW would make it cheap. LRT is more flexible with grades and turns then commuter rail.

I doubt the Casino Rail spur would get built , there would never be enough traffic to justify the costs , so a stop benefiting the casino would be better.

Fall River 2050 - Google Maps
Seems good abiet ambious, but the Casino would help Fall River it all Amenities are not in the casino (bars, "Adult entertainment", theatre ect) then it wouldn't feed downtown

I know most of the stuff in the map is a pipe dream but I tried my best.

It's not finished and I'm deffinetly going to revise the map as I get more ideas and from the ideas that's posted on here. But I don't understand how removing Rte.79 is going to work (it is a great idea that should be looked at). The Casino Rail spur was a connection to the commuter rail line and was made to be a stop for the commuter rail. I didn't add the light rail because I didn't think there would be enough tracks to go from FR-NB and the way going to Providence isn't going to work because most of the old railway has residential houses built on top of it (Ocean Grove) or bike paths in the spots (Warren/Bristol)

Those cities were on an upward trend long before there was even talk of commuter/regional rail. Wilmington is a horrible ghetto that happens to have some corporate headquarters, no thanks. Fall River and New Bedford are real cities with proud histories. I like to think they can become much more than "commuter cities". That sounds like more of a dream for Boston real estate moguls.

I am not against greater rail connectivity in the future. Just spending money we don't have while our current roads and rails are in shambles, is totally assinine. If they start maintaining what they currently have, then it will be easier to sell to us sceptics.

I think you are getting a tad ahead of yourself. Cities are where there are supposed to be jobs. We cannot simply make light rail to go from one city to another for the whole country just because a city cannot produce jobs.

Some areas of the country need public transport quite a bit more than others. Down south it isn't nearly as a common..heck some drive to their mailbox!

Nationwide travel with rail is much too slow to be realistic. About seven years ago I went to a wedding in Cinncinatti. Amtrak said a rail trip would take 29 hours from Boston! I could fly to Hong Kong from JFK and return in that amount of time! No one realistically commuttes that far (outside of the boston/nyc/dc corridor)

Again keep in mind what would happen if dependency is created and then it either goes on strike or cuts back services. Here's a picture of the DC transit strike.

In order for the T to run it has to raise fares and cut services. If you take away the pension plans the incentive to work there drops like a rock and you might create lawsuits.

I'm not against rails but unless there's specific plans for what they plan to do with them then it does not work well. We cannot have a policy by default in this state that everyone should have to work in boston or if they don't have work to still go to boston.
