true, true, but portland and seattle have 9 months of constant drizzle or grey skies, and for that 9 months, you will never see the sun, even for 1 second. the other 3 months, well its pretty beautiful with all the mountains, lakes, greenery, etc.

It seems to be like this in the Boston area as well. It has been (or feels like) it has been in the 50's & 60's practically every day in May & June. Even in NYC it was warmer for much of June (ex. mid - upper 70's & sunny in NYC vs. 60's & cloudy in Boston ). People think afternoon temps of 65 degrees around here (Boston area) is 'warm' & nice -- to me it is still chilly.

RE: The original part of the thread the $1,000 a month home anywhere in MA?? I think that went the way of the 10 cent parking meter in Boston. I pay $1820 a month for an 1100 square foot 2bed/2bath apartment in Revere MA.. Rents in most areas of MA (anywhere east of I 495) are well over $1500 a month and homes rent for between $2500- $3000 a month (plus utilities of course -- this past winter was a complete anomoly -- avg. snowfall is something like 60 inches a year and many days temps from Dec - Feb do not rise rise above the 20s)

How do you expect the kids to pay for it?? Not everyone has parents who can pay the rent for an apartment in Brookline or Cambridge while paying $40,000 + a year for tuition alone -- sure these kids may have roomates but each persons share of the rent is over $1500 a month....

My guess would be Kentucky. His kids would not qualify for in-state tuition.

Nice weather in Mass is a novelty. Boston has many good points, but anyone trying to escape from rain is going to be pretty disappointed.

Yes it is still in the 60s in Boston but near 80 here in NYC. I am in both places because I own a business now in NYC but you really need a strong anti depressant in Boston especially during the fall and winter which seems to last 8 months. Actually rents in Queens NYC are slightly less than in much of Middlesex and Norfolk counties in eastern MA. Grocery prices are obscene

I personally find the summers in Boston way too grey and sticky- not even hot, but grey and almost 100 percent humidity. Rain seems quite "normal,"not like the PNW. Yes, this winter was insane- stores had their a/c on in March and it is chilly now in June. I think this is how summers used to be- warm/hot during the day, cool at night. It's been a long time since it's been that way.

Uh, the "kids" (who are grown adults) can get a job My parents never paid anything for me once I was out on my own. It is called learning some self responsibility, comes with being an adult
