Sadly, I as well came across many with this mentality. "It's cheaper to keep her" is a phrase I heard a lot during my 20's, and a lot of that probably had to due with the alimony/CS laws at the time.

Even today, I know a few guys that went through divorce and found themselves paying so much child support they couldn't afford to live on their own anymore. They had to move in with their parents, and struggle to pay bills. But that's an entirely different conversation in general.

Needless to say, there's a reason why I waited until my mid 30's before entertaining the notion of marriage

People need a two income household to afford this place.

2 of my colleagues live as a roommate because of divorce. The first lives with his parents (that's an awkward roommate when you're middle aged!) and the other rents a room from someone he found on Craigslist. I was shocked as both are in a management position and have had successful careers. From what I'm told the divorces nearly bankrupted them.

My guess is that like everything else in MA, lawyers here are more expensive compared to other parts of the country. So not only is it "cheaper to keep her" because of alimony and child support but also because of the attorney fees. Divorce is expensive from what I hear, regardless of what state you live in. But I've never met grown men that needed to live with someone else after a divorce until I came to MA.

This is highly likely not true, same as "great" MA schools - the schools just cheat by not publishing their low MCAS scores, so they look better than they are.
Same most likely applies to all stats related to MA, once they cheat in one place they may cheat in others.

If you can't at least TRY to trust published official stats, what can you trust? Facts are not facts? Only non-factual opinions count?
