Hi there,

My lease is up in October, and I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for apartment complexes. My fiance has to drive to Kendall Sq in Cambridge for work and I need to take public transit to the Back Bay, so I was thinking one of these four towns may be a good fit for us:
  • Cambridge
  • Arlington
  • Watertown
  • Newton

Ideally we're looking for a 1 BR in an apartment complex that costs <=$2000/month all-in. Any suggestions?!

Thanks!!
nplaneta

Check all of the Archstones and the Avalon properties.. My preference was Archstone when I lived there and they both have quite a few complexes with decent amenities all throughout that general area. Beyond that, if you get a good real estate agent, you can probably get a better deal for a decently priced apartment that is more of an all-in.. the problem with the complexes is that you are less likely to find one that includes any utilities... it all depends on your hassle factor...

I have a feeling you won't find Archstone or Avalon apartments for under $2000 for those areas. Your best bet is a private rental.

I would suggest moving your search to Brookline over Arlington or even Newton for better access to the public transit route to Back Bay. You can find 1 bd/1 ba there for ~$1700-$2000. I would also focus on Cambridge proper (though you'll have to probably do a bus to Back Bay depending on where you get a place). Any of those choices, of course, will have a toss up for parking.

I'm looking for an apartment for my family in watertown to rent. The apartment needs to be by some kind of transportation ( bus, train, or something ) and a store so I can shop for food easly. Can you tell me the name of a good realiter company that can show me around. I need for it to be on the first floor with 3 bedrooms in $1000.00 - $1200.00. I will be moving around January time frame
