We are newly married 30 ish, relocating from New Jersey, no children yet and would like to move to a single family home in the South Shore area that we can afford - $350K - $400K. Good schools a must, nice area, cute shops and restaurants, and near the T. We were told Braintree Highlands, Dedham, Milton, Canton... Would love to move to Newton, but obviously, can't afford it! Any suggestions or info on any of these towns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When you say near the 'T', does that include commuter rail or just the subway portion? If the latter, then Dedham and Canton are out for that criteria.

I think you might be priced out of Milton and even Canton with your budget (though there are always exceptions, especially if depending on the type of home you want). Braintree would fit most of the criteria except for the cute downtown/restaurants part (it's pretty much suburbia).
