I would love to know what Elysian utopia the OP lives in. Judging from his responses to everyone on this thread: he lives in a low population density area with low taxes, no traffic, fabulous facilities, cheap housing, great education and great health care with ultra squeaky clean politicians. All much better than anything available anywhere in MA.
Come on maurb, tell us where this paradise is?

I can understand that argument but before the lottery there was still gambling...underground numbers games from the mob. Yeah the lottery might be a tax on the poor but at least the government can be argued to receive the money rather than organized crime. So funding schools or funding friends of Whitey Bulger

Besides everything can be argued to be a gamble. Just look at the housing market and the stock market.
