I'm looking at relocating from Florida to the South Coast area in springtime and am trying to get a general idea on the cost of utilities (gas, water, electricity, etc) in that area (namely Fall River/New Bedford, as stated in the title). I'm a single male, looking at moving into a 1 bedroom place.

Also, do most of these utilities require a deposit to get them started? We don't really use gas much here in Florida, or heat for that matter (haha), and all the places I've rented have had all utilities included so I'm fairly new to most of this.

Lastly, if you know of ANY other good sites (other than craigslist) to look at apartments and general labor jobs, that'd be super helpful.

I think cost of utilities is compared to any other area...

Living in Fairhaven now (accross the water from New Bedford), I think water is actually cheaper than in NC, where I lived before for 5 years...Mainly because Durham, NC had water restrictions because of droughts and lack of water supplies in the area (no natural lakes etc in that area, just a couple man made lakes)

So when we went through the droughts, Durham implemented a tiered water system where if you were a high user of water, the cost was way higher, etc...Costs went up for everyone but I agreed with the idea cause how else were you going to get others to stop using the water carelessly than to hit them in the pocket books...

As far getting apts in New bedford or Fairhaven (can't speak for Fall River), I think it's probably best to get a realtor...You can scrounge Craigslist but the pickings are slim there...
