I will buy a car right after I land there in December. I am thinking to live in nearby Boston rather than living in other small towns nearby Hopkinton such as Wincester, Frangmigham etc...

Would you please recommend an area best suitable to me in terms of distance from home to office? Within 30 minutes drive range?

You'll be doing a reverse commute so you could easily live in Newton or surrounding areas and still get to Hopkinton in a reasonable timeframe - about 30 min or so. That way you'd be able to live very close to Boston and still have a decent commute.

Wincester? Do you mean Worcester (Mass.'s second-largest city) or Winchester (a nice suburb near Boston).
Framingham is also quite a city, not a town. I agree that OP isn't likely to live in what seems like "near Boston" but that Newton or a place like it might work well. Commute on 90 to 495 to Hopkinton?

Neither Worcester (assuming that is what you are thinking) or Framingham are small towns. Technically i believe Framingham is a town, but it is a huge town. Hard to answer your question without knowing price range and what you are looking for within the town/city

Framingham is thought to be the largest town in the country actually.

More helpful information would be the type of home the OP is looking for and if they want to buy or rent. Also, what kind of lifestyle do you live? Stay at home a lot? Do you like to go out to bars/restaurants?

What price range are you looking for? Newton is nice and close to the city but can be expensive. Framingham is convenient to Boston and Hopkinton and is less pricey.

Thanks guys for the inputs. Quite useful.

I did some research and found Newton to be the right one for me. My budget allows me $1500 - $2000 per month for renting for my wife and myself...I need one bedroom w/ one living room and of course kitchen and bathroom. :-)

Generally for rental purpose, are the apartments/houses available with utensils, sofa , washing machine, dining table/chairs etc..? or I myself need to buy all those stuff?

If you rent a regular apt for long term living, you probably get an empty space. Some with washer/dryer in the unit or down the hall/basement. Unlikely to have utensils and table/chairs (some exception if the previous tenant left these then you're in luck). You can make 1 trip to Ikea and get these easily.

There are short-term rentals that includes furniture and kitchen necessities. But price is usually really high (good option if your company pays relo)

My office is in Newton and I attend Framingham State University. I love how convenient Newton is to both commute out to school or into Boston.

You'll find that your budget will get you exactly what you're looking for in Newton. $1,500 is about where the rental market starts in Newton, and $2,000 will get you a very reasonable apartment. You'll actually find that it may be easier to find a 2 bedroom that you like than a 1 bedroom.

I'll echo mmyk72 in saying that especially in your target price point, it will be rare to find an apartment furnished.
