I got a job in Burlington, MA (in the Burlington Mall Road). I am relocating for this job from NY.

Looking for nice area with Indian community, nearby stores, 30mins commutation (including traffic) to and fro office, economical house rentals for singles.

Please suggest me some suitables areas and cost of living (rent/utility charges/etc.).

Thanks.

Maximum budget? Burlington, Lexington and Waltham all have active Indian communities. Waltham may be best for a younger single. Arlington may have something of a lively younger Indian population. I know there are some very good Indian food restaurants there and that puts you closer to Somerville and Cambridge, both international and good single scenes for everyone.

budget - a student like, most economical. House Rent around <=$500/mo (including gas, electricity, internet), as low as possible.

Could you please tell me
- how much is the rent?
- cost of living in that locality?

Thank You.

Do you have a car? $500 a month including utilities is going to be close to impossible in under a 1 hour drive even with roommates. A 1 bedroom apartment is around $1200 a month, with an average of $100 for electricity and internet and up to $200 a month for heating in winter. I live with 3 roommates and budget $100 a month for utilities plus an additional $100 a month for October - March.

I don't think you will get an apartment on that budget anywhere without roommates.

If I were you, I'd go for Davis or porter square, Brighton, or Waltham like mentioned before. If you have a car, you can drive to Burlington. Those are all good, less expensive areas for a single person.

Still needs a roommate or two unless the OP wants to double that 600-800/month budget.

Yes having a roommate is a given! Or two. Or three.

what do you mean by roommate?
Is it about 2 guys sharing a room
(or)
Is it about sharing an apartment? Like 3 guys sharing a 3bedroom apartment, one room for each.

please clarify.
