I have furniture I haven't been able to sell or donate. In the spirit of recycling, does anyone know an organization that refurbishes used furniture into something new or takes it for scrap? Any suggestions welcome.

SA just rejected it. Big Brothers, the ReStore and some other local charities have also rejected it. All of these charities are being very particular about what they take these days. Most are looking for furniture they can resell for some profit rather than warehousing and giving the furniture to people who lost their homes in fires and foreclosures. They also complain they have too many of certain items and have their particular lists of most needed furniture.

I suggest calling some Veteran's Associations in your area. Up here in NH, there are homeless vets in transition who can use many of the items that would sit unsold in a Salvation Army/Goodwill type of store.

Do you know how it disappears even quicker? Put a sign on it that says $10, and watch how fast it goes *poof*

Freecycle is great as well (but I hope that there is a veterans organization that will pick up items in your area!)

Ran a CL ad, surprisingly rude responders for people acquiring free stuff. Curb not an option where I live. Will let you all know how well I do with the veteran's groups and then Freecycle, if no veteran group.
