Driving down the Mass-pike into NY state, did anyone notice that there is a "leaving Massachusetts" sign, and not for another mile or so is there and "Entering New York Sign, I found this really odd.
Where is the actual border?
I guess you don't do a lot of interstate driving. The signs are never placed at the exact border on the interstate; they're just for reference. The actual border is where the local road running parallel to I-90 changes name from Cross Rd. in West Stockbridge, MA to Flints Crossing Rd. in Canaan, NY.
EDIT: I was just looking on the map. To answer your question, the "leaving Mass" sign is more accurate than the "Welcome to NY" sign.
if you look at this map you can see where the border is. you can go to street view and find the leaving mass sign. i put a marker on what i think is the leaving mass sign https://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=4...p=1&sz=19&z=17
