Hello,

I am planning a move back to MA and saw a state job I would like to apply for. Does anyone know if there is a residency requirement to apply? I figure I will have to live there to be hired/work, but will my application automatically be rejected because I am not yet a resident?

Thanks!

As far as from what I can tell there is no "official" residency requirement for the state.

Having said this though I would check the job description because if it involves traveling that might complicate things.
The Mass CEO site lists the majority of state jobs. https://jobs.hrd.state.ma.us/recruit.../3111/index.do

Some of the benefits might get complicated though. For example tuition assistance should work but you'll get quite a bit more for your money if you get instate tuition. I'm not exactly sure how the insurance works.

Go for it, I believe there is no residency requirement.

When the Comm. of MA hired my wife, she was a resident of IL and commuted for a few months. Of course that was a few years back and she was upper management so things could be different.

I know some of the folks that worked for her lived in NH.

I took a risk and applied, so fingers crossed!

If I was hired I would move before I started, thankfully I have family I can stay with while we get settled.

Thanks everyone!
