I moved away from MA in 1990. Now when I go back, one of the things I crave the most in Boston is fried dough. (We only have "funnel cakes" here in the south. Good, but noooo where near as yummy.)

The problem is, I never really get a chance to visit up there in the summer, which is when you see those carts out and about near the Waterfront, the Public Gardens, etc. I'll be going up early October...any idea if my beloved guilty pleasure will still be on offer at that time?

I'm sure you can get your fill, and then some, at the Topsfield Fair. 10/4-10/14.

If only I were going to Topsfield.

This trip will only be 5 days, mainly in Boston and my dad's house in North Reading.

Try a HS football game. They usually have fried dough. Unfortunately I don't know of any brick-and-mortar fried dough options.

I'm positive I've seen fried dough on a restaurant's menu. I just can't remember where.

You all have been very helpful, but the main focus of my question was whether the carts at various points in the city of Boston are still in operation in early October.
