5Welcome...

Just remember to put windshield fluid instead of water in your car. The low temp yesterday was 25F and high 50F.

Like CA, MA has a law that limits the amount of property tax increase every year to 2.5%. If the town needs more money (usually for schools, fire station,... etc), they have to vote to override this 2.5% increase and agree to higher increase.

3 months of cold? i think it's more comparable to 6 months of seattle gloom. you'll find marlborough to be several degrees colder than boston and you can count on average low temperatures of 40 or below from around october through april, which is about half the year! but don't let that get you down.. you'll love everything else about this place besides the weather.

also, sudbury is a good bit more than $50k more expensive than marlborough. according to the warrengroup, the median price of a house in sudbury sold this year was $620k. it was only $340k in marlborough. the reason marlborough is much cheaper is because it's a city (opposed to a town) and doesn't have an elite school system like sudbury does.

it's a good idea to rent for about a year before you decide on purchasing a home. besides, every economist thinks the fed is going to slash rates sometime 2007 once inflation starts to stabilize, which will result in lower mortgage rates when you decide to buy next year.

Good point. When I came to MA to find an apartment, my GA car had water in it, so my wipers froze up and I couldn't wipe off any of the sludge that was building up from the dirty snow debris. It was a nightmare.. I was driving down I-95 in 20 degree weather w/my head sticking out of the window and everyone was honking at me.

we have three plus months of winter here- and two months of weather that are 45-60- meaning November and April.

Seattle is milder yes- but Boston does not have 6 months of snow and cold.
Seattle in fact has the least amount of bright sunny days of any major American city.
Hey I know you hate the northeast and New England- but the climate here is much milder then 30 years ago due to global warming.

Yup I know you love the deep south- but did you see recently the population of the south has the worse health of all Americans- and those in New England have the best?

C'mon-

I guess you read my other post about GA vs. MA (I admit I'm a sun-lover). I was just saying it might be cold compared to Cali weather -- that's how I felt my first year when I moved up here from Atlanta. I wasn't stating my opinion when I was talking about Oct-Apr having average lows of 40 or below. I got that data from weather dot com. There's actually 5 months (Nov - Mar) where the average lows are below freezing. It's weird though, I don't think I've put on my jacket this year yet. I think I'm getting used to the cold. As with moving to any new city, there is always a transition period and each person will be different.

Yeah, I saw that health report, but the health of the people around me doesn't affect the way I eat or live my life. If anything, I'd rather live in an unhealthy state so I would feel better about myself

glad you are so self absorbed- Sun is fine- but Global warming and extreme heat is not something you should take lightly. Atlanta is becoming far too hot for my tastes. And As Atlanta becomes hotter, New England becomes milder- I really like mild compared to hot and sweaty.
