I walk a lot in very cold, extremely windy weather on the top of a high hill. In winters past I've been able to manage, this year I'm ***dying*** with a long down coat (admittedly has a few years on it), cuddle duds, warm pants, close fitting hat, hood, insulated everything. I started looking late in the season for a new coat, waiting for a sale, and now can't find *anything*. At this point I'm willing to sell the house for a really really warm coat. Any suggestions, please? Gone through LL Bean, Nautica, Calvin Klein, Eastern Mountain Sports, REI, etc etc.

I keep telling myself it's almost March, but that's not working.

Try Carhartt. I had one of these years ago, and I rarely wore it because it was actually too warm for me.

Carhartt - Product - Men's Duck Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined

Nice down vest underneath a long down coat with long insulated flannel shirt.
Over that a fluffy scarf with a face protector and a head band with two hoods.
That's what I wore today. Oh and gloves!

My favorite winter coat is an LL Bean down jacket sourced from a thrift store. For the OP, I recommend getting a long down coat. Also wearing a good fleece neck gator or scarf helps too.

Don't know about the others, but LL Bean and Lands End both have temp ratings. Get the long version of down jacket with the highest fill rating. If it still doesn't work, the good thing is these 2 place will take it back.

Canada Goose or less expensive North Face. Expensive? Yes, but worth the investment.
LL Bean long coat is also good choice.

More important than the coat is the layers you wear underneath it. Preferably 1 additional warming layer and 1 wind-breaking layer in addition to whatever you normally wear.

Vegan, but I know it would be warm! (Plus I really would have to sell the house.)

Found Canada Goose a few days ago and I've been drooling ever since. But they use real fur and I'm vegan.

LL Bean good warmth, shallow pockets/ Looked through the men's section; they seemed to have much more than the women's, but I'd have to weigh 230 to wear them.
