Hello all! My husband recently accepted a position in the Worcester area. So now I am trying to figure out a nice area to live within a reasonable distance to Worcester. We have 3 sons, so an area geared towards families would be perfect! Also a place where people are generally happy to meet new people! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OH! BTW we are in our early 30's if that makes a differance!

What kind of a location are you looking for? Urban, suburban, rural? Do you want to be near shopping or maybe you don't mind driving a bit to get what you need? Do you plan on renting or buying? Most importantly, what is your housing budget?

Just off the top of my head, I would say Shrewsbury is a lovely town that offers a lot and is an easy commute to Worcester. However, if you can answer some of the questions above you'll get higher quality answers.

Holden is nice. If I moved back to MA I would consider living there.

Hi - Moving Mommie -- I would highly suggest living right in the city of Worcester. The problem with living in surrounding towns is the fact that you have to drive to get anywhere. I have lived in Holden and Shrewsbury - both times I lived near Main Street which was great for a small walk. Now myself and my three daughters live near Elm Park in Worcester in one of the single families across from Doherty High. We absolutely love it. There are concerts in the park, we can walk to 50 restaurants, grocery stores, the theater, etc. This is truly the best place to be in Worcester County. Good Luck.
Some great businesses in the area are: La Joile Fluer (flower shop), Woo Berry (froyo), Juz (juice bar), The Sole (5 star seafood), Bean Counter (cupcakes, coffee), Monster Movers, Wheaton Camera Shop, Bagel Time, Living Earth, etc. Overall - great place to live!

Great to have another person on here who knows Worcester (I definitely don't know Worcester). However, this discussion is almost a year old. I'd wager the OP has settled somewhere by now.
