The contractor should suck it up.

I think I'm going to bring this thread up next time someone complains about cold nasty Bostonians. Of all the responses only 3 were unfriendly, - a stereotype that from this thread, I would say is undeserved. The rest were suggestions that the OP deal with the offending party directly and without hesitation- but in a non confrontational way.

This thread really held true to what most of us have said about Bostonians. They don't beat around the bush or hold back and while not syrupy sweet friendly, are not cold and unfriendly either.

Of course, I would be assertively agressive in the most polite manner possible.

OP, I hope your neighbor follows through and doesn't put off phoning them. It can be a hassle having to remind someone to do what they said they would do. Sometimes it's out of sight out of mind even if they have the best intentions of following through. I hope you also got the name of the business that's responsible for the mess. Personally, I'd rather have done the calling just to know it did get done. If they had been on my property using it as their prep area without asking first, I'd have told them to pack their stuff and move. That's really quite a lot of nerve. Most contractors I've known are about as trustworthy and dependable as a politician.
