That's because the Beach Boys have a commitment on the 5th.
If it is changed to the fifth there won't be the Pops concert at all.

I work. Time and a half.
I went to the Esplanade on the Bicentennial and a drunken Irishman picked me up and carried me around on his shoulders so I could see, singing to me. We dated for the month he was in Boston and then I visited him in Alaska for a week.
Hey, it was the 1970s. Stuff like that doesn't happen now!

The city has got to be a real cluster "kiss" with those looking to get out for long weekend and those coming in for the show.

I always liked Boston on long weekend holidays. It was quite, one could move around, restaurants were available as in not packed, etc. Could be like that after tonight. A weekend to enjoy the city life.

Do you know the most useless thing on a women's body? An Irishman.

Met people today who flew from Seattle to see the Pops and fireworks, and the Red Sox. They were understandably upset about missing the fireworks because they didn't arrive until the 4th.

Not sure if they have family/friends here or just came as tourists.

I was up in Bar Harbour while at Acadia National Park years ago. They have a parade in the daytime, then fireworks. But they were cancelled due to weather that year.

Doesn't Bristol, RI, still have their nationally-known July 4th parade still?

I've always wanted to go to Bristol for their parade but would have getting stuck in all the crowds and traffic. Time to google it and see if they still have it--maybe for next year.

Arthur rains on Bristol’s parade, but the show goes on | wpri.com

Maybe I'll see you there next year!
