I was looking at traffic conditions past month on google maps and webcams and they are absolutely brutal on the route 1 south/93 expressway from downtown boston to canton. As bad as nyc metro. I'm not sure why they even bother giving traffic reports. It's a parking lot. Also strange was how long the delays lasted for. Rush hour seems to start at 2:30pm and go till 7:00(to 8pm on friday) and the morning commute was still showing congestion at 10AM. Isn't everyone at work already? Was it always this bad? Boston is not that big of a city to have delays like that. Bad infrastructure!

Anyway, my question is on average how long will it take to go from downtown Boston to canton leaving boston at 5pm once you get on route 1 going south to exit 2b in canton? I'm just asking how long the highway section will take. Google maps says 15 miles/18 minutes. So maybe 1 hour sound about right at 5pm since it will almost certainly be non stop parking lot the whole way? Or longer?

Thanks!

I93 south of Boston is one of the worst stretches of highway in the state. If I were you, I would just take the commuter rail. There are several stops in Canton.

Totally agree, but I'm just picking someone up a few times with stuff to move so no train. I'm not crazy enough to do this for a regular commute. lol How much time does the hov lane save?

1). Google maps gives estimates with traffic. A good place to start. I do this right as I'm leaving to help me pick the best route. Without traffic it's a 20 minute ride, but an hour is a good guess.
2). It's probably better to take Blue Hill Ave at that time of day.
3). It might even be better to take 90W to 128s
